Development Update #1


The second week of NaNoRenO 2020 has passed and Destination: Prague is now at 2.5k words with introduction and most of the first tour complete. The government has declared a state of emergency here due to the ongoing coronavirus epidemic, so let’s stay safe and stick to virtual traveling for now!

How long will the game be?

After the introduction, you will be able to embark on several trips (or “tours”) around the city, each of which would take at least an hour in the real world. In the game, they will obviously be much quicker. The game jam release will probably be around 4-6k words, with plenty of backgrounds to illustrate the journey.

Why make a teddy bear tourism simulator?

Because it’s silly and a script about your hometown practically writes itself! Hopefully, players will get something out of it regardless of whether they’ve already been to Prague, or they’ve just learned that a country called Czech Republic exists. The unusual perspective should make things a bit more interesting and fun than the standard prose of tourist guides and leaflets!

Why make a visual novel?

Ever since reading my first VN more than 10 years ago, I was intrigued by this way of telling stories and fancied using it for my own ideas. Like they say, you gotta start somewhere, so here we are.
